That is the foundation of Elpida Biblical Counseling—hope found in Jesus Christ.

Elpida (Ελπίδα) is the Greek word for “hope.”

Biblical Counseling is grounded in the conviction that God’s Word is sufficient to address the struggles of life and to bring about genuine, lasting change. It is a Christ centered, Scripture sufficient ministry that lovingly comes alongside individuals to help them grow in faith and obedience as they apply God’s truth through the power of the Holy Spirit and the hope of the Gospel.

Biblical Counseling is:

• Christ centered — Directs individuals to Jesus Christ as the only source of true hope, forgiveness, and lasting change.

• Scripture sufficient — Upholds the Bible as fully sufficient and authoritative for understanding life’s struggles and for teaching, reproving, correcting, and training in righteousness.

• Sanctification focused — Seeks growth in Christlikeness through the ongoing process of progressive sanctification.

• Spirit dependent — Relies on the work of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction, comfort, wisdom, and genuine heart change.

Biblical counseling addresses the issues of the heart—thoughts, desires, emotions, and behaviors—by faithfully applying God’s Word to the real struggles of life.
